Getting Started

Is Formation free to play?

Yes! Formation is completely free to download and play. We offer an optional Pro subscription with advanced features, but the core fantasy football experience is 100% free. You can create teams, join leagues, compete for rankings, and use all standard features without paying anything.

How do I create an account?

Can I change my team name after creating it?

Yes, you can change your team name once per season. Go to Settings > Profile > Edit Team Name. Choose wisely—you only get one change!

What leagues does Formation cover?

Formation currently covers the following leagues:

• Premier League (England)
• La Liga (Spain)
• Serie A (Italy)
• Bundesliga (Germany)
• Ligue 1 (France)
• Champions League
• Europa League

We’re constantly adding more leagues based on user demand.

Squad & Transfers

How many players can I have in my squad?

Your squad consists of 15 players:

Each gameweek, you select 11 to start with 4 on the bench.

What is the budget for building a squad?

You start with £100 million to spend on your 15-player squad. Player prices range from £4.0m to £14.0m. Budget management is key—you can’t afford all the premium players, so finding value picks is essential.

How many free transfers do I get?

You receive 1 free transfer per gameweek. Unused free transfers roll over to the next week (maximum 2 saved). Any additional transfers beyond your free allowance cost 4 points each.

When is the transfer deadline?

How do player price changes work?

Player prices change daily based on transfer activity:

• Rising: If many managers are buying a player, their price increases
• Falling: If many managers are selling, the price drops

Price changes occur overnight. You keep 50% of any profit when selling (rounded down). For example, if you bought a player at £10.0m and they rise to £10.4m, you can sell for £10.2m.

Can I make transfers after the deadline?

No, all transfers must be completed before the gameweek deadline. However, you can make transfers for future gameweeks at any time. These will process when the next deadline passes.

Leagues & Competition

How do I create a private league?

How do I join a private league?

1. Get the league code from the league creator
2. Go to Leagues > Join League
3. Enter the code
4. Tap Join

You’ll be added immediately and can see the standings.

What’s the difference between Classic and Head-to-Head leagues?

Can I be in multiple leagues?

Yes! You can join unlimited leagues with the same team. Your squad and transfers are the same across all leagues—you’re just ranked separately in each competition.

How does the Cup competition work?

The Cup is a knockout tournament that begins around Gameweek 17:

• All managers qualify based on overall rank
• Each week you’re drawn against a random opponent
• Highest score wins and advances
• Tied? It goes to highest-ranked player (captain, vice, etc.)
• Continue until one winner remains

Chips & Strategy

What chips are available and when should I use them?

You get 2 Wildcards per season (1 before January, 1 after). All other chips can only be used once.

Can I cancel a chip after activating it?

• Before the deadline: Yes, you can deactivate any chip before the gameweek deadline.
• After the deadline: No, chip activation is locked once the deadline passes.

What are Double Gameweeks (DGW) and Blank Gameweeks (BGW)?

Scoring & Points

Why did my player get less bonus points than expected?

Bonus points are determined by the BPS (Bonus Point System), which considers many factors beyond just goals and assists:

• Passing accuracy
• Tackles won
• Chances created
• Errors leading to goals
• Cards received

A striker who scores but misses several chances may earn fewer BPS than a midfielder with a goal and high passing accuracy.

Why didn’t my defender get clean sheet points?

Clean sheet points require:

1. The team must not concede while the player is on the pitch
2. The player must play at least 60 minutes

If your defender played 55 minutes and the team kept a clean sheet, they won’t receive clean sheet points.

How do auto-substitutions work?

If a starting player gets 0 minutes, a bench player automatically subs in:

1. Subs are made in bench order (left to right)
2. The formation must remain valid
3. Processing happens after all gameweek matches finish

My captain didn’t play. What happens?

If your captain plays 0 minutes, your vice-captain automatically becomes captain and receives double points.

Account & Technical

How do I reset my password?

1. On the login screen, tap Forgot Password
2. Enter your email address
3. Check your inbox for a reset link
4. Click the link and create a new password

If you don’t receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support.

Can I play on multiple devices?

Yes! Your Formation account syncs across all devices. Simply log in with the same credentials on any device (iOS, Android, or web) and your team will be there.

How do I delete my account?

The app is crashing. What should I do?

Try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Force close and reopen the app
2. Update to the latest version from your app store
3. Clear cache (Settings > Storage > Clear Cache)
4. Restart your device
5. Reinstall the app (your data is saved to your account)
